Default Dwarf Peach and Necterine Trees.

My wife recently bought me two dwarf fruit trees which i planted and they are now in blossom. Must have planted them correctly for them to blossom so im happy i appear to have got that bit right.

Due to the frosts we have had in the south east of england recently i wrapped the main part of the trees in a fleece sock that i saw at my local garden centre.

As said the trees are in blossom so should i remove the fleeces and expose them to the current stong winds rain and occasional hail or should i leave the fleece on for a few more weeks until the weather is better.

The blossoms are touching the fleece fabric so im not sure if its doing any damage to the trees.

Thanks for your advice.

Unless its frosty i would uncover them as they need to be pollinated for you to have fruit but if you have no bees out in your area at the moment you may need to hand pollinate them by using a small soft brush

Keith, Thanks for your help. I have seen a couple of bees albeit a few weeks ago in the better weather but the trees where not in blossom, With the weather being very windy and wet at the moment i will uncover them and hand pollinate just to be on the safe side.

Hmm! Peach Leaf Curl is air-borne. Might be an idea to protect them from the elements, even if it means putting plastic over them. I've grown them, in the past. Definitely need hand-pollinating
