Hi all, was just wondering if it would be ok to grow strawberry's in a 8 inch wide by 6 foot plastic pipe on its end buy cutting holes in the pipe every 9 inches or so. I haven't much room and i could grow quite a few strawberry's this way. Anyone help please

The only problem I can see with that is the watering. I am growing strawberries in a terracotta pot with holes in and when I water it the water runs out of the top row of holes and the botton plants only produce small fruit. I have had to put the pot into another pot so the water can soak through the terracotta.
Maybe if you had a thinner pipe inside with holes all the way down and pour the water into the smaller pipe it would reach all the plants. Put a plug of some sort in the bottom of the watering pipe. Hope that makes sense. ![]() |

I agree about the watering pipe. If it is too wide though the plants at the bottom of the container will be drowned so would a piece of hose pipe with holes pierced down the length work do you think? You can grow strawberry plants in hanging baskets if you are short of space.
