Default Gooseberry bush - leaves going brown

I have a hinnonmaki gooseberry bush (red gooseberries), we planted it around 3 weeks ago - we bought it as a bush from a garden centre. However the leaves are all going brown now. I cant see any insects on the leaves, so i dont think its a pest - maybe a deficiency or disease though?

Can anyone help?

It could be potassium deficency. The cure is to feed with a tomato food as this is high in potash.

Default Gooseberry with brown leaves

If you are on heavy or clay soil, it may be drowning (i.e. the planting hole is full of water). Three weeks does not seem long enough for a deficiency to show itself all over a plant that looked healthy (???) when you bought it.

In any event, I would be inclined to take it back - most garden centres either guarantee their plants or replace - particularly if it has been as quick to fail as yours has.

Good luck

Laura
