Default Brown Turkey Fig - small fruits

Please can anyone advise me? I planted a young Brown Turkey fig in a large container early last year and it has been standing in a sunny corner of our patio all summer. It fruited for the first time a couple of months ago, which is just great, and the plant is looking very healthy. However, the figs are very small and unripe, ( I was hoping to have some succulent figs to eat this year..haha...) and so I am wondering if the tree needs another year to fully establish itself before it produces fruits that are edible - any thoughts out there anyone?

Fig trees produce tiny embryo figs in the summer which over winter so they need protection from frosts and it is these tiny embryo figs that will give you a crop of figs next year. Has your tree got tiny embryo figs on it?
