Default First Strawberries!!!

My son and I shared our first strawberry tonight. I don't remember having tasted anything like it in years!!!

There are 5 or 6 large strawberries looking like they might be ready together in a few days.

BTW they are Elsanta.

Just bought some Ostara from Lidl and hoping they do as well.

Just on its own - theres not much you can do with just 1 (albeit very big) strawberry.

We have some amazing footage of my son from last summer, aged 1, laughing hilariously at hos bowl of strawberries with the juice running down his face!! He very quickly learned to say "more strawberries". Aged 2 he still loves them - I think I might just need to watch that he doesn't swipe them off the plants when I'm not looking.

One of my clients strawberries have just started ripening. I did, of course, enforce the gardeners right to the first one.

Hi Tammy, from being green and hard the strawberries will gradually ripen. It can take a couple of weeks, depending on the weather and daylight hours, but don't pick them when they are pink - wait until the strawberries are a vivid red colour as the flavour gets better and better as the colour deepens. Watch out for the birds as they will pinch the ripe strawberries so I usually have a net over my plants.
