Question My strawberries are finished, what now

I bought 3 plants this year and put them into a pot, We've had a few berries off them but a bit disapointing. I have been growing the runners in to individual pots so this will explain the lack of fruit but my question is.....What do I do now? do I cut all the foliage off as suggested in my book (by Carol Klien) or do I leave the runners a bit longer? How will I know when the runners will be ready to seperate from the mother plants.
Hope this makes sense to someone

Ian

My strawberries have finished. They are grown in pots and i am not worried about runners. But what do I do know. Cut right back- fertilise-leave alone. Any help or advice please

Well guys I bit the bullet and cut mine back to the crown. They look healthy enough but have started sprouting again so I don't know what to do now
I suppose its a case of wait and see. I'll keep you posted

Ian

My wife looks after our strawberries - she gets the tip of the runners onto the soil to make sure they root, and once they are established she cuts the runner. Healthy parent plants are left in, any which didn't produce well she digs out.

We have jars of Strawberry jam to testify to the effectiveness of her methods!
