Default raspberries?

Hi all.
How do I tell which canes to cut back from my summer raspberries. I cant remember which ones fruited this year!!. Looking at the canes it seems they all have small buds emerging from the leaf joint. What are the tell tale signs of a new cane compared to an old one. Am I right in thinking that my autumn fruiters can all be cut down in December. Thanks for any advice its much apprecited.
Keith.

Those canes which have fruited will have a silvery look to them. The autumn ones can be cut out as soon as they have finished fruiting.

Default Raspberries

Thanks David, I will cut them back this pm.What are the buds appearing on the leaf joint,do these indicate a cane that is going to fruit or not. Also noticed what looks like black soot on the leaves.
Thanks for your help.

If the cane has fruited this year, ignore any new buds and cut the cane out. Any chance of a pic of the black marks? If it looks like soot, it could be sooty mould. This is caused by aphids, which secrete honeydew and this is what the fungus grows on.
