Default Strawberry plants and pots

I bought a couple of reduced terracotta strawberry planters at the back end of last year (£3 each as they had a couple of chips out of them!! Great what Homebase and B&Q reduce for huh)

My father in law tells me that I should plant one strawberry plant per eye in the pot. Can someone tell me if this is right? And also the best way to plant them in a pot if you know? Ive read a couple of books that suggest planting the plants from the inside, feeding them out through the holes and filling with compost as I go.

How do other people do this?

Am growing some Baron Solemacher (sp?) from seed this year, which is a first for me but will probably end up buying some young plants when they fail haha.

Any handy hints would be much appreciated

Rachel, your FiL is right, you plant them in the pockets. How you do it is up to you, wether from the inside, or outside, it doesn`t matter, as long as they are in compost. You could also use one of the planters for herbs, if you so wished.

They seem pretty expensive to me, i don't know a lot tbh but i don't see why you would pay 10xs the normal price just because they are new climbing strawberries. The display picture on that website has clearly been Photoshopped (and badly) so don't think your going to get something that actually produces that much fruit if the people that stock it cant even take a real photo of the plant doing that well.
Just my opinion but id just pop down to your local garden centre/BnQ/homebase where ever and get a few plants for a couple pound
