Hi Pacey,

Iv never grown grapes before, they might be abit tricky to grow, i know they need extra attention, full sun, dug deep, pruned correctly but thats all im afraid, hopefully someone else who has grown them will advise you.

Have a look at this page for growing grapes in a greenhouse. Follow the same ideas if growing outside. grapes

To be honest, I don`t know of a white grape that can be grown outdoors in this country.

Hi Pacey, Vitis Vinifera is the family name for a large number of specific grape varieties. Is there any other name on the label??

I do know that you can grow white grape varieties outside (it depends what variety you have) as a number of people grew them on my old allotment site and my neighbour had a massive white grape vine in the garden that made smashing wine.

also this might seem like abit of a stupid question, but the end has been sealed with wax, none of the other were. should i just pick it off? melt it? or simply chop the 1/2inch it covers off?

Not heard of that before. I would say leave the wax alone, it was probably applied to stop the cutting bleeding.

Yes, the cut ends of vine cuttings are often sealed with wax, probably to prevent moisture loss. The vine will sprout from some of the dormant eyes lower down.

Hi Pacey, your photo looks like the wax is the grafting wax, which is normal.
