Default Strawberry plants from seed

Hello all

Wonder if any of you have ever tried going strawberry from seed? I've tried getting some going in the propogator but literally two from 40 cells have germinated and they look pretty feeble.

Anyone got a tried and tested method on strawberries from seed?

Rache

They may take a bit of time to germinate, and grow very slowly for the first couple of months.

I sowed alpine strawberry seeds two years ago. I think I sowed them in March and just scattered the seed on top of damp compost and put vermiculite on top, but only a scattering. I watered them once a week and was suprised when about two months later I had a tray of baby plants. I never expected to be able to grow them, but with division I now have loads of them
