Default red currant roots not growing

When i was planting my red currant bush a month or so ago i snapped part of it off and just though meh stick it in a pot and see it it grows, its grew fine new shoots and what not but i planted it out in the garden today and was surprised to find it had not grown any new roots... help? lol

You should have had a bit of patience and left it in the pot for the season, then planted it out NEXT spring.

To be honest, I would repot it and bring it indoors.
