Lemon tree

Being new to fruit trees - might be a silly question but do Lemon trees self pollinate? I have my first one in my conservatory and had not expected it to do anything until insects started flying (bees etc), yet it's already starting to show small fruits. I spray it every day to help reduce leaf loss and wondered if it was self pollinating or due to my spraying e.g. like runner beans can be assisted by spraying?
