Storing strawberry plants through the winter months takes a little time, but to have some of those tasty strawberries next summer, it is worth it. If you are growing strawberry plants in small, movable containers, you will need to find a place to store them over the winter. The ideal place will not get above freezing until it is time to set your plants out again. You also need to keep your strawberry plants cool enough so they remain dormant through the winter months, but not so cold that they freeze and die.

Hi Tweacle, there is no need to worry about storing strawberry plants over winter as the plants are fine left outside throughout the year. The plants will die down during the winter and start to regrow in the spring which is when you need to remove the dead leaves.

Hi all! Sorry to hijack this thread slightly ! I planted loads of strawberry runners a gud few weeks ago, today I potted them on into bigger pots. reading this thread I intend to leave them in the ghouse for a couple of weeks before moving them out with the other strawbs on the shed roof for the winter. They are all in pots.
Do I need to water them thro the winter? And when should I bring them back into the ghouse to get earlier fruits? |
