Hi there,
I don't pretend to be an expert in container-grown strawberries since I've only started last year. But I'd say it's one fruit that stands containers well. You won't have masses, probably just handfuls, but I got fair results with the variety 'Everest' last year (it sends long runners that you can train up a treillis if you are space-limited like me). A lot of the available varieties are well suited for containers/baskets. The bigger the container the better. I was using a wine crate with a few runners and that was OK, I don't think the roots go very deep. Don't forget to give the plants some tomato feed (high potash) every week from flowering, since they are hungry plants and they'll need more food in a container!
Hope this helps :-)
