Default Moving my grape vine

We need to move my grape. This is the first year of fruiting, so its not that old!

I understand that it is supposed to be pruned at the end of the year. I was wondering if I pruned it back now and moved it would it survive?

Many thanks.

Sandra

Hi Stanhol, I am going to move a grape vine, and this is the info I dug up on the net. "It is alway iffy when transplanting established plants. This is what they recommend. Take some cuttings of original plant and leave in pots until transpant is establised. Cut vine down to about 12 inches from ground. Thoroughly soak the soil around the vine for a couple of days. Dig new site to fit root ball about 2-3 foot in diameter. Then dig a diameter around the vine to take the root ball as big as you can handle. Place in new site and water periodically. Don't be alarmed if it dies, as you have the cuttings to back up your old vine, it says you may have no fruit uintil the second year. "Go for it and Good Luck. Hope this helps. HappyGardening
