Default Jostaberry

Has anyone grow a jostaberry? We have one that is 2 years old but produced hardly anything. Picked a few berries and the rest were eaten by the birds That isn't the jostaberry's fault but how long does it take before it starts producing some good amount of fruit?

It took about 3 years with me but well worth the wait. With most soft fruit berries, it is essential to cover with netting to defeat the birds.

Jostaberry is known for its mildew resistance, spineless canes, fast growth and easy-to-care-for nature.Make sunny raised bed with right amount of compost for best results.Plant Jostaberries in the early winter.Provide plenty of water to the plant and prune it very well.Remove any part that appear contaminated, damaged, or entangled with one another.

While planting jostaberry, follow the instruction required for growing fruit trees. Plant the canes in spring with workable soil.Prepare a sunny raised bed for best results.Remove the wrappers from the canes and soak them in a bucket of water for one hour.Push the soil around the plants to remove air pockets. Water the canes well when you are finished.
