Default Mangos

Anyone ever grow mangos? My father did a while ago, but he payed someone to maintain it. I believe we the crops are still functional, but it's planted in another country where we use to live.

The climate over there is more suitable than here. But I'm guessing you could still grow mangos in the UK or USA in some parts.

I have grown mango trees - well actually - they grew themselves. I lived in Africa for 47 years, and always had mango trees in the garden. Here in the UK, they can be grown, but do have special requirements. They do need warm temps - usually no lower than 12-16C, and are better suited to containers, brought indoors in winter. Flowering and fruiting is seriously affected by low temperatures. They can grow very large, so would need the growing tips pinched. I don't actually know anyone here in the UK who grows mangoes, but I'm sure they will be growing here somewhere !

I've just found this website which looks good: www.plantcultures.org.uk. You may find it of use.
