Default A Salad for tea (or evening meal, depending where you are)

Well last night night a had a salad for tea made with the mixed lettuce I grown...

All though it was only mixed lettuce and easy thing to grow (my first edible item) I have to say it was 1000 times better than supermarket stuff I normally buy...

More delicate and sweeter and slightly cheaper as well, its been a little bit of insperation for me for everything else thats on the go!!

just wanted to share that.....

It's great - isn't it?? There is nothing better than picking and eating your own fresh, tasty home grown veggies!!

I have to agree, although was always sceptical of people saying "Growing your own tastes so much better" but I too last year grew lettuces and was shocked at how much nicer they were to the usual more expensive ones I bought at the Supermarket. And the conveinience of popping into the garden and picking to order...

I have one small fear especially getting the bug last year of growing your own, and growing so much more this year is, and this may sound odd, but when eating the lettuces I grew last year I was so scared/convinced I was going to poison myself.

Today I was watering and potting around and thought if I would plunge right in and eat what Ive grown this year, I gave away tomatoes last year by the bucket load as I was too scared to eat them. Just that age old thing of being 26 and always got my food source from the supermarket - a fear I hope to overcome this year

I have been the same, this is my first year and it was daunting cutting leaves etc from a plant, potted in soil - something my mother always warned me against !

But I ploughed through the thoughts and fears and enjoyed another tray worth since

Cant wait for the cue's and tom's now....

I'm really enjoying my home grown spinach this year! Just getting impatient for everything else to get ready! I can't believe how many times I have bought expensive bags of spinach from the supermarket, with not a thought for how easy it would be to grow!

Can't wait for my peppers to be ready, I am always shocked at how expensive they are to buy in the shops, and they're always imported??? Why is this, when they grow happily in our summer climate?

My red onions will be ready in a few weeks I hope, can't wait to turn them into onion gravy and pour all over sausages... mmmm!
