Hi all
I've just been reading the Garden News paper, and was shocked to find an article stating: "Spraying greenfly with soapy water is strictly illegal if you do it with the intention of killing them. ..... Similarly with beer for slugs." Have any of you heard this before? Any thoughts on why soapy water is illegal yet you can still buy chemicals designed to kill greenfly/slugs and most other living things it comes in contact with? Have you ever heard of this "law" being enforced? PS if I don't write here again then I'm probably in prison for breaking this law on many occasions lol ![]() |

It's probably because all pesticides need regulatory approval, and if you're using soapy water as a pesticide it hasn't been approved for that purpose.
I don't think there's much danger of prosecution though ![]() Paul |

In that case, make sure that before you spray them, you tell them that you're only doing it to give them a wash. And as for the slugs, well, it's thirsty work keeping all that slime going... |
