As a website designer I use photoshop but an easy way on any PC would be to crop/resize the pic in paint if you dont have this software.
RIGHT CLICK ON PICTURE > OPEN WITH > PAINT
The picture will open in paint, I resize mine to 15%, makes for easy viewing but not sure if this is in exact file size for this forum but anyway will be a smaller file if saved in JPEG or JPG size will most likely be a few double or triple figures in 'KB' rather then 'MB':
Picture Open in Paint-
click: IMAGE > RESIZE/SKEW
click: Change the percentage boxes of HORIZONTAL & VERTICAL to any lower percentage to make the picture smaller, as I say I do mine at 15%
When you have changed them values click OK
Then save the image as a different image name ie: Garden_pond_smaller.
If you simpy click SAVE then this will save the image as a smaller one overiding the bigger image which can not be reverted back once you have left paint if you do not have that bigger image stored elsewhere ie: camera, disc etc...
If after entering a size your not happy with if its far too small then simpy hold down CTRL and press Z, this will put the image back to the last previous size...
Hope this helps a little, you most likely been informed how to do this or another route or worked it out yourself. I use photoshop but have paid for the software, paint is on most all PC's as a standard.
