Smile share your hobbies

afternoon guys & gals

well as the thread title says i would be interested in your hobbies i know we all have a love for gardening but have you other interests that fills your time..

now im having a love affair with my turntables and have been for about 18 or so years,i even still buy vinyl..i fell into being a dj by accident as i used to be a professional dancer for a rave promotion and because a lot of my friends were either professional or bedroom djs i started messing around on there turntables and soon found i had a talent for it and from there never looked back...i have djs in a club done countless parties for others and done some internet work...i was even for a short time being head hunted by a local radio station but things fell through due to me not wanting to change my musical taste, and what i love to play, which is hard dance, the radio station wanted me to play r&b/drum & bass which really doesnt do it for me..iv always run by the thought that if you dont enjoy what you play how the hell can you expect others to lol

i also have a love for motorbikes my last bike being a suzuki gsxrr 600 which was so sexy i felt pant movement everytime i looked and rode her...sorry to be rood :P lol

i dont have a bike at the moment as iv got 4 kids and found it very difficult tying all 4 kids to the bike plus the police didnt like it they thought i was being cruel......to the bike lol

anyway guys id love to hear about your hobbies and interests

Nik

I also like Cooking and washing up I do enjoy the Sunday roast fantastic. Taking Sonic Scamp and Spike on holidays with Mrs Marmite. And most important thing is enjoy living, life is to short to be annoyed with the world. SMILE its quite safe and you may enjoy the responce from other people. Live life to the full from Marmite.

Default Sailing

Good non-gardening topic! I live in Cowes and have a passion for sailing, did it at University then gave it up for some 12-13 years despite living by the sea (which as anyone that lives by the sea often admits they don't actually see in days), started again when I came to Cowes, did 5 years racing, then nothing for two years - Now started racing again every Tuesday night, it's a nice boat, no shouting etc and so I find it as therapeutic as gardening!

Hello, I'm quite new here, and have enjoyed reading about what you're all into!

I live in Lincoln now so it's tricky to do being 50 odd miles from the sea, but I lived in Cornwall til a couple of years ago and absolutely loved to surf. I miss it lots! Hopefully arranging a trip to Norfolk coast soon to see how rusty I've gotten, my board will be happy to be in the water once again for anyone who knows about these things, I own a 7'6" malibu and a 6'4" shortboard. Was never very good, but what an amazing feeling being out in the open water, totally at one with nature!

Apart from that, I LOVE my indie rock and roll! As well as a bit of Beatles, Kinks, pretty much anything from the 60s, bit of northern soul... Johnny Cash is a real love of mine too! Love a good boogie anywhere that plays such stuff!

Cooking! I'm a little obsessed by food but I try to cook and eat healthily and luckily being very active helps, I'm sure I should be 20 stone really

Hiking! I love it... the great outdoors, hills, woodland... My friend Victoria and I are walking coast to coast along Hadrian's wall for charity in September and are obviously doing lots of practice and planning in advance... did a 11 mile hike with a nasty cider hangover last sunday... ouch!!

Here's the link if anyone is interested in sponsoring us... any donation much appreciated!

Tracy Liddy is fundraising for Ovarian cancer action - JustGiving

Oooh yeah not forgetting... cider! Can you call that a hobby?? Love it (proper stuff that is!! Not the rubbish fizzy wee wee kind!), one day would love to make my own! Anyone have any apples they don't want?

I have a passion for Falconry. Been a practising falconer for 7 yrs now. I have my very own 6yr old Harris Hawk and from Sept to Apr we regularly go out hunting about 5 days a week. I hate this time of year as she is moulting out

I had no idea falconry was still so popular, what a fascinating hobby! I love to watch birds of prey, so beautiful! Apparently we have Peregrine falcons living at Lincoln Cathedral, but I've not seen them yet unfortunately. I look forward to the day I do though. Anyway I'd love to know more about falcons... Something I'll have to keep an eye out one day perhaps when I've got some baby chickens!!

It's more popular than people think. I moved from Cornwall to Devon when I came out of the RAF. I contacted the company I have my bird registered with in case she goes issing and they told me there was 12 others in my area. In 3 yrs I have only met one of them, lol.

Last weekend was the 2nd international Falconry festival in Reading. Both days must have had around 50000 falconers from around the world.

Some twenty plus years ago during our first winter here, we were snowed in for five days without power. We virtually lived in the kitchen with an oil fired AGA for company and only candlelight during the long dark nights. I vowed that wouldn't happen again and bought a couple of sorely neglected Aladdin lamps from a junk shop, and the rest, as they say, is history........................................... ..........
My hobby of collecting and restoring lamps and stoves keeps me busy during the winter nights, and many friends and family members now have a degree of independent light, cooking and heat if they suffer power cuts.

And one of my "before and after" eBay bargains, re-enamelled in my kiln and now in residence in a friends all electric house - just in case

Hi, so interesting to read people's replies to this! And so many diverse hobbies! Lamps, falconry, beer making, etc! I don't have anything too outrageous. I do watercolours, cook for family and have chickens ... no falcons here please during breeding season!!! Just let them have one brood this year as I'll be overrun, and neighbours complain if I have too many cockadoodlies, but out of six chicks, five are girls, fantastic, more eggs for next year!

My hobbies are pretty mundane really. Reading, crosswords, music ( all sorts except modern jazz ) and of course, gardening.

HORSES !!!!!!
Also very handy for manure

My 5 mobile, fury mousetraps, the feline kind.

I reckon most people who are keen veg growers, must be keen cooks, why else would you go through all that trouble?

We gave up our TV 7 years ago (no time), still have not missed it

I am on a falconry forum and read about wayward birds of prey ending up in peoples gardens sat on a chicken. What I would like to know is why are they always on the owners prize chicken and not the rest, lol

Default Hobbies?

Just read all the interesting things you lot get up to!
Unfortunately have a very bad back which is gradually becomoming worse - old age , don't you know! -so at the moment am not into anything much myself. However, used to be an avid line dancer, going out at least three times a week and love C&W music. Keep saying I want to write a book on my life story and WILL get round to it soon!

Willonthewall - Just love your collection of lamps etc.
