Default Savoy!

I went on my quarterly dry goods outing to the shops the otherday, and noticed the Savoy cabbages They were stripped and pared down to pale green wrinkly globes. Whatever happened to the lovely dark green outer leaves that have all the flavour? I hate supermarkets

This is the type of reason why people like us grow our own. Just plant more savoys.

I didn't buy any, I just looked. I find the veg in supermarkets all rather clinical. I love putting my hands into the sack in my shed and pulling out the spuds still covered in soil. Even my wibbly wobbly onion strings have soil on them. I've never mastered the art of platting onions

I`ve never managed plaiting them either, just tie `em all together in a string.

One year my Dad insisted on 'helping' and platted my onions onto strings but they were so heavy that the only place we could hang them was on the steel girders in the garage!!
