Default tree advice? lol

Looking for a tree for my front garden, need something with pretty small roots as the front garden aint that big and I don't want to damage my house foundations or the wall surrounding my house. Also want something that has a colour or something just some sort of beautiful tree that will make me smile every time I go in or out of my door lol
But catch is i don't want this to be a fruit tree as I don't live in the best of areas and I know for a fact there would be kids in my garden if they saw something growing.
THANKS

I'm not 100% sure on the roots but a good small tree is the Mulan Magnolia (Magnolia liliiflora). It is very pretty and grows to be about 3.5-4.5 metres high.
