Smile Carole's Handy Info (Bargains Galore!)

hi everyone
I luckily found this place last week
and have enjoyed A very warm welcome here and have also enjoyed reading lots of interesting threads here
~especially " Pacey's "
inspiring thread~Titled
...New garden~New grower~with all his great progress photos.

I used to be very keen for over 10 years In my previous garden
I left everything behind
It was a huge hobby and I was outdoors at every opportunity
Mainly growing masses of varied and wonderful shrubs and flowers ~in stacks of assorted containers~~for most of the growing~
but for the last 6 years here... I have done zilch~ but last week after having read Pacey's gardening venture ...I just feel like starting up my hobby again

I just thought of a thread that may be useful
~where we could pop in , and add or read some ☆ HANDY INFO..or Handy Tips ☆
OR WHERE you found some........ Great Garden Goodies

BTW ...as well as adding any HANDY TIPS / Bargains and Good useful Ideas
Please...tell us ANY of your interesting gardening experiences / and success stories~

as well as ...what ..where when and why ~you FIRST became interested ~in planting stuff

Everyone is welcome to pop anytime
please..... Let us know -ALL the gardening things you plan doing- today
as well as
.......what you actually managed to get done~ today
or ......since you were last here

Oh....my handy Info today
is to mention that I went to ........ Pound Stretcher yesterday
and bought 2 of their Own brand ~ Upside down TOMATO PLANTERS @ £4.99
THEY ARE BRILL~and only half the price of the Topsey turvey upside down Tomato planters that have recently been advertised on TV

Yesterday I also found another BARGAIN ...in ASDA
and bought 2 Garden tools for £10
~and chose a spade and..... a rake

another thing I found at ..................... Morrison's
was a brilliant BEAN GROWER~for just £4
you get the big green growing sack and the tall spiral frame ~
You just have to get a 5 - 6 foot tall bamboo pole to hook the robust spiral metal frame on to

I love to find a bargain~
please let us know of any other goodies or..... Any handy tips~ and any of your stories

YEY!
I love the fact I helped inspire someone to start growing again especially when im just a noob lol
Nice to finally hear something about your own activities as well. You have a garden or patio or what? Lots of space to play with? Spill it lol
Will keep my eyes open for plenty more bargain tips to put in here for everyone
Only thing I can think of atm is Poundland again, went in the other day and spotted loads of green/red gooseberry bushed that were even bigger than the ones I paid either 1.99 or 2.99 each (cant remember lol) for in Wilko

Question

just joined photobucket and popped back to see if this photo works this time
======= no

taps chin and .....tries again

mmmmm .. progress I can see some little box icons there
~but....................... will it turn into my garden piccy???
Maybe they are just needing to be approved by a moderator
fingers crossed eh

one is a sketch of my garden /which I have drawn~ on my pooter
and the garden piccy ~with my Kitty " LEO "~was taken earlier today

which is located..... in front of the sunroom and ... along the next door neighbours back wooden fence

Last week The idea came to My mind .. to create a RAISED table area to ....sit any containers onto

and decided to order 2 Pairs of plastic 22" WIDE~TRESTLE legs [on Ebay ] ~[ have since seen the same ones [Stanley brand] at B&Q]
and luckily I already had
4 long [ 8 foot ?]~ steel girders~
and 2 decking squares..... to form part of the table top [intend to find more ~as they are ideal]
and 70 treated new and perfect pieces~ of fencing wood about 3 feet tall~
which I found last week dumped on some waste land
and last week ~bought the 4 black oblong pots from Aldi
and the 20 black Florist buckets for 99p~from Morissons
and the 6 ltr lovely LIME watering bucket from B&Q
ALSO got a £1 Dibber and a little hand spade~ from Aldi

Hi Carole, the links you have just aren't working.

Try loading the image straight from your PC. Click on Post Reply then scroll down that page and click on Manage Attachments. This opens a new window. Click on Browse which opens the files on your PC, click on the file containing your photo's then click on open, this opens your photo file, then click on the photo you want and click on open. The code for that photo is loaded and you just need to click on upload for the image to appear on your reply. I hope this helps!

just tried to make sketch smaller

and it has worked

BUT TOO Small to see the sizes written beside the drawing
TOP Of sketch shows my back fence which is 78 feet across [west east in the piccy]
Then on left ...the angled fence is .................88 feet [ west to ....south east]
then the side gate and wall that meets the front of the house is 12 feet across [west to east]
the shared dividing back fence ~is ABOUT 40 feet ~to the back fence [north .south ]

the back garden is at least 3 times the size of the usual gardens around here
and faces NW

Hello again karlyboo
your garden and everything you have done in it .... is beyond words

What a shame your 2 costly greenhouses got blown down
~but great you have salvaged some good work shelves out of them

You sure do have a great assortment of happy plants~which you are taking great care of
Your greenhouse that you made [6x15 ?] is extra special !!! along with all your other handy work
You are a very clever bunny

I have a feeling I want another Of the FAB 4- basket ~TREE STANDS
THEY ARE BRILL~and a BARGAIN~esp as you get 4 very attractive lined hanging baskets ~ AND The Sturdy well designed STYLISH Frame post
~and 4 long stakes ~ to secure it in the ground
ALL FOR £17-99

Last night
~I hung 2 of my upside down tomato plants on 2 of the arms~which is IDEAL as they need to be up-fairly high
and the other 2 arms I hung up the lovely looking provided baskets
and just popped my bushy PARSLEY ~and the lovely scented THYME
into the lined baskets .
Both herbs are Still left growing in the medium sized STAINLESS STEEL Mixing bowls ~bought cheaply ~ From Morrison's ~and are a perfect fit

[Poundland also sell the same type of mixing bowls~which area great for planting herbs etc~after making a drainage hole in the base ]
