Lightbulb Watering Cans...

Hi,

I am a product design student at Plymouth University, i am currently under taking a project on designing a new watering can.

I was wondering if you would be able to give me some feedback on your current watering cans?

Things that annoy you about them?
Problems with common cans?
Problems in general?
Something you would like to see added?
New features? Ideas?
Any other feedback on watering cans?

Many thanks for your help! and i look forward to your replies.
Kyle

PROBLEM.Sometimes interchangeable roses of different sprinkler hole sizes fall off on to plant when watering.

Yes, how about just one rose with adjustable sprinkler holes
Oh and the rose needs to be far higher than the can, I always get wet feet, if I have to carry the watering can any distance

Talking reply

Hi All,
I would like 1 that is "Semi Automatic"
Fills itself, walks to the plants, (or maybe a "Pull Along")
Then, i don't mind doing the hard work ,,,,,, of Lifting & Pouring
Perhaps, there could be a "Detachable" seat included???

Anything for an "Easy Life",,, cheers stupo

This has nothing to do with the breed of bird. You can't leave birds unsupervised to fly into soup and watering cans . If you are not going to supervise your pets, you should turn them over to someone who will.

Only just seen this so probably too late as you've done it. I find the opening too small so it's difficult to get the can hole under the water butt tap. Wheels would be great so don't have to carry it and if it would tip up to water even better.

A funnel like hole on the top for filling it would be a great idea as one of the others said trying to get them to sit under your water butt or tap is not always easy.
Also they all give out far too much water for seedlings, I end using my daughters toy one for watering them instead.

I think some types of watering cans have been designed by people who have never seen a plant let alone watered one before.

One blew into our back yard during a winter storm. Don't know where it came from but there was only a very small hole to fill it, a tap spout just about fitted, or it would have done if the hole hadn't been positioned right under the handle. Crazy! We took a knife to the can and 'redesigned' it so that it's usable now.

Yep, That's so obvious a design requirement, yet one that is often forgotten about. Do these designers not use their own products?

Ali.

Turn the rose so it is upward facing and the flow is lighter for seedlings.
