Hi all. I don't know how often I'll be on here for a while. A huge flood is coming down the Missouri River and the south end of our little town is suppose to be under 10' of water soon. My house is higher but we've moved alot of things to higher ground and are now in a wait and see mode so we're saying a prayer that things don't get worse. Take care friends. I'll try to keep you updated.

Thanks folks. Just to let you know we're still in our house, although all but the essetials have been moved to higher ground. So things are a bit bare here lol. The levee south of here has broken twice so far but, no thanks to the fed. gov. they've been repaired for now. So now we'll have this watery sword of Damiclese hanging over us for the next 3 months, but we'll just carry on and as my UK friends might say "keep a stiff upper lip"

Hi Husker, that is really dreadful news. I've just read The Washington Post and I do hope and pray that you, your family and your town will be safe. Take care Husker.

These were taken from a bluff on the nw edge of town looking w,wsw, and wnw. You can see farm site already partially submereged and there's an interstate hiway out there somewhere. We live down the hill just north of the manditory evac part of town, but about 7' higher. I talked to our emergency managment co-ordinator on Wed. and he think that even if the levee around town fails we should be ok, unless some other catastrophy occurs. So now we'll be holding our breath
for the next 3 months. Ah to be in England...Attachment 1070Attachment 1071 Attachment 1072 Last edited by Husker; 19-06-2011 at 10:46 PM. |
