Default advice on tree stump

i have had 2 big conifer trees cut down in my garden (blocking to much sun to my veg) now i got 2 stumps was hoping anyone had ideas on ways to help them rot quicker also they was big trees so roots will be every where if i was to use chemicals would there be any chance of them affecting the veg plot its about 8-10 foot away

can you hire a Stump Grinder, they seem to do the job once and for all?
Or can you pull them out - conifer are shallow rooted, if you cut a circle about 3 feet out from the stump and sever the roots then pull out the stumps with a tractor - if you can,t get a tractor into your garden (or if you live in a town) you could use a winch if you can anchor it to something.
