Sorry about all the ridiculous questions - but I am a complete beginner and I have no idea what I am doing
![]() So my greenhouse, it now has some seeds in it, and my tomato plants. At the moment the weather here is sunny, but quite cool. However, the temperature in my greenhouse this morning read 19 degrees (this was at 8 am). Do I need to open the door and leave it open during the day? Only when I opened it this morning to go in and check things, the temperature dropped straight down to 15 within a couple of minutes.... I will be getting myself a book or two at the weekend, but in the meantime I am worried about killing my tomato plants with the wrong conditions. (I LOVE tomatoes!!). This morning I have left it closed, and am now worried they will be too hot. If I had left it open I would be worried they will be too cold, ha ha!! This is harder than raising kids!!! ![]() |

Hi Smiley Sue,
ha ha ha ha ha , i too have the same worries, shall i open it, shall i shut it, i can be in and out of the greenhouse several times in an hour at the beginning of the season! You are right its worse than having kids, these babies cant tell you whats wrong! I tend to leave my GH shut untill it says 24 ish! Then i open a window and see how it goes. I am lucky that i am around most of the day. If i am not though i tend to leave a window open thinking better its cool than frying my seeds! Good luck, Sandra |

at this time of year long daylight and night time warmth are the paramount requisites so open doors on hot sunny days and close at about 4 pm water and close vents repeat until night time temps average at about 15c then leave doors open all the time i open my ghse at about 630 and close at about 8 pm
