walk-in greenhouses

Anyone else out there got any walk-in greenhouses as I like to purchase one of these so I don't have the hassle of erecting a glass one.I would also like to have these all year round,oh theres also the patio-grow,anyone got one of those at all!:

Stel if you are planning to buy a plastic covered greenhouse be sure to fasten it down to the ground and use something to weigh it down as well. They blow over when it is windy and everything inside gets wrecked.

Hi there Paul,well I intend to put this greenhouse in a position where it mostly sunny and near a wall and I want to grow sweet peppers,toms,auberguins,lettuce,onions,peas and runner beans,is this possible at all with this rubbish climate we all have,my guess is probably not!

Peppers and toms will likely need a greenhouse but the rest I've grown okay outside even with the lack of sun this year

pees and runners need to be out side por pollination and in greenhouses it is too hot and you will experience flower drop

i have found these plastic green houses to be difficult to keep moderated too hot too cold lack of ventilation and a lot of condense try a small glass one

Hi there tallkenny,thankyou for the advice,do you grow the other veg in pots or in the mother earth ground?

Hi talkkenny,

if you are looking at growing all that, then a greenhouse is your best friend. i built mine from recycled timber and doubleglazing windows and it is the perfect size with plenty of room. Also a ' hand built one ' is also easy to extend to your needs without too much fuss. I built mine which is 6' 6" tall and about 10' plus long with a further 6 - 7 foot to extend for £20. Tempretures in the warm whether ( spring till late summer ) are always nearly in the 20's. That is in wet and windy South Wales !! so it is really worth investing the time to build / buy one, especially in the u.k. climate.

Thankyou very much for the advise,I shall be considering a greenhouse about a 4x6foot and just using bubblewrap for insulation but I'm not sure on what heating to put in this size greenhouse,as it is quite compact,I don't want to use liquid parafin as these stink,but I was thinking of propane maybe
Anyone else got any views on what heating I should consider,it can't be electric as I'm on a budget,as the electric bills are high enough at present!

hi Stel,

To be honest with you bubble wrap, as long as your greenhouse is sealed then the temp shouldn't drop a great deal. i may be wrong. other than that solar panal or a small wind tubine generated heater could work??
