Question can anyone help on growing seeds in greenhouse

Hi there im trying to find the correct way of growing seeds. I have looked in books and got so many different ways. I always thought sow the seeds in a tray in a greenhouse and leave them to grow?? Reading a book it says to cover them with paper?? Can anyone help on best way.

Thanks

putting a sheet of bubble wrap or horticultural fleece (never heard of paper but guess it does the same thing)wil help keep the compost warm and speed up germination. take it off when they start growing. but you can just bung em in, they ll be absolutely fine at this time of year. its not cold
