Question Home-made ventilation for plastic mini-greenhouse?

I've recently bought a plastic greenhouse with 4 shelves. The ventilation is the whole front rolled fully open, or totally closed. I'm out at work all day, so can't tweak during the day: it's all or nothing from 8 to 6.

I'm considering cutting some slits in the top and making some flaps from clear Duck Tape. I'd use more tape to reinforce the plastic that I'd cut through. Would this work? Has anyone any experience of their own modifications?

many thanks

Default Vents

Hello Lisa MTT. I have the same type of unit all I do is unzip one side to vent and disperse the condensation. when I cut slits and made a flap system was not worth the effort. That unit only lasted 2 years. And check weather before going to work, if hot roll up flap as the plants WILL wilt on top shelf. Lost my geraniums last Saturday due to heat. Happy gardening from Marmite.

Thanks for the advice - I will do exactly that. Sorry to hear about your geraniums.

If only they made the zips double-ended - an obvious simple solution!

Default Good idea

Why not get in touch with the manufacture and suggest the double opening zip. Regards from Marmite.

I've just sent Gardman an e-mail suggesting it. I'll post here if I get a reply!

They replied!
"Thank you for your e-mail.
This does sound a very good idea and I have passed it on to the Product Manager. It will probably depend on how much it would cost to use a double ended zip and whether this would make the mini greenhouse uneconomical.
Thank you for contacting us and for purchasing Gardman products."

If they appear in the future, you'll know where you heard it first!

Lisa
