Question Flowering Courgettes

I have 2 cougette plants in my greenhouse which i sew indoors earlier this year, however they have so far they have produced about 6 flowers which although look very nice fail to produce any fruit .

Am i doing something wrong or is this normal and the fruits will develop on further flowers? The ones so far dont have any sign of a fruit behind the flower, this means that these are the male flowers?

Any advice greatly appreciated

Gerallt

Hi Gerallt, don't worry!! That is typical of a courgette plant. The plant only produces male flowers for a couple of weeks to begin with. The female flower is distinguished by the tiny fruit growing behind it. However, although there is a tiny fruit behind the female flower it still needs pollinating otherwise the fruit just rots or drops off the plant. As the plants are in the greenhouse do you have the door fully open for the bees, wasps, flies etc ??

learning so much about these forums

mine is flowering too early, in just 21 days from sowing the seeds...but as per Lesley its normal, and its also normal to have all male flowers at the beginning.

be patient and we will harvest soon:0
