Default Advice on polytunnel/ cloche...

Hello...

The previous tenant of my allotment had buried some poles in the ground, they're about 3ft apart and the whole thing is about 9ft long and 4ft wide. I understand from my neighbour, that the previous tenant made a tunnel using stakes, plastic and pipes. I think it's quite a good idea, particularly as I'd like to grow aubergine, peppers and chilli which need a warmer climate.

Does anyone have any ideas or advice? I need to find some piping or something that's going to strong enough to make a tunnel and I need some plastic sheeting to cover it with. I have no idea where I migt be able to get this kind of stuff from??

Thanks for any help in advance!! Peony.

To form the tunnel you could use alkathene water pipe. As for the skin, you could try here, www.gardening-naturally.com . Failing that, Google national polytunnels.

Hi Laura, they have the sheeting here but eBay might be cheaper.

Hi Peony just started a thread on poly tunnels as I did not want to hijack yours. Looking on ebay for poly tunnels and found a 4.5x2m large greenhouse poly tunnel, I have no idea if this would suit you.

Might I suggest you have a look at this but also price up the materials for making your own. In the past I have looked into custom making various items and have concluded tha it can work out more expensive but you do get exactly what you want.

Hope this is of some help, David.
