Never had a greenhouse before and have 2 grow bags with 4 tomato plants and 2 cucumber plants. Tomatoes now have fruit on.
Question how much water should I be giving them? Should I really drench the bags each day? I water them late evening and am feeding once a week with tomorite. Also concerned it's getting too hot. As the plants have grown up it is difficult to reach to put shading on. I temporarily placed some cardboard behind the plants last night but this will exclude the light. I would be unable to paint anything on because of the plants and reaching. Any advice very welcome. thanks. |

Hi
I can't offer any advice about watering grow bags but we was also worried about the greenhouse getting too hot We have a west facing garden and the sun is pretty much on the left side of the GH all day long We have a window that opens automatically and we open the door whenever the roof opens We also grow russian giant sun flowers on the left side to try and shade it a little... ![]() I guess a bit late for you this year, but maybe grow something outside the GH for shade in the future The temperature hit the low 30's last week in the south east and the GH was not much hotter Would it be easier for you to try and shade the GH from the outside using something? like a tarpaulin if the temp rises too much? Thanks A friend brought me some shading material which I managed to fix with great difficulty to the longest side. Am hoping for the best. Next year will buy something which will fit over the outside as it's through the roof that gets most sun. There is a shed down one side and hedge the other. The problem is fitting stuff inside my greenhouse as doesn't seem to have anything at roof level to fix stuff to.
