Question New greenhouse?

I tried insulating my 8x6 with bubblewrap - it looks terrible and the wrap is falling down. I have decided to raid my savings and buy a polycarbonate 8x8 or 8x10 and relocate to one side of the garden inside the duck pen. Then I would relocate the duck pond into the view of the kitchen window.
I am considering buying a cheapie from summergreenhouses.com for about £579 - it has twinwalled polycarbonate glazing and will be sited on my SSW side of the garden. I may even start to grow more than cucumbers and toms in it. I prefer to have soil borders rather than paving as that gives me some leeway in forgetting to water every day.
Has anybody arranged their gutter downpipe to feed into a barrel kept inside the G/H or is that unnecessary? I will fix up a mains electricity supply to it.
I would appreciate any comments, criticism or advice. Practical help would be marvellous if anybody lives near me in Wells!!! lol.

There are brand new Polycarbonate greenhouses on Ebay for half that price. I have had mine for a year and love it. Mine is a Gardman and has a gutter which you can buy a downpipe for very cheaply. It is amazing how much water comes off such a small roof ! Mine just fills up a rubber dustbin outside on a corner. After finding slugs galore growing in the garden soil in the greenhouse I now grow a lot off the ground. Hope this helps : )

Wow thats ingenius, i'd have never thought of having the barrel inside! but it sure is going to get humid during summer! and you'll probably attract a lot of flies

I agree that you can find some things online that are a lot cheaper because many people start this, and then don't like it. So they attempt to recoup their money by selling it. Capturing water is handy, and I think you are on the right pace to get the results that you want!

Ebay is a great option if you go and collect it, but its good to see it up and in one piece before parting with your cash. Another option would be to build one yourself. I built a timber frame of 15 by 6 foot and purchased polycarbonarte sheeting from Wilkes. All in all with bits it cost less than 270 quid. Took a bit of time though.
