Hi Wayne,
Can't help you about removing threads but I am sure someone will.
However re your greenhouse. I can recommend a cherry tomato called Bambino from King's seeds. This is a indeterminate cordon type so needs to be grown up a cane and have the sideshoots removed. Also Beefmaster F1, a large variety is good.
I love to grow tomatoes and try different varieties each year. This year its Tomatoberry and Britains Breakfast.

Thanks for the reply bantiekeeper. I have been on the ball form last night doing some research and i have choose the beefmaster f1 along with shirley, sungold and black krim all are indeterminate cordon type how many plants do you think i can fit without cramping them in the green house im also looking to grow some chillies and peppers the greenhouse is unheated when is the best time to start the seeds indoors and place out in the greenhouse thanks again for your reply.

Hi Wayne,
I sow tomato seeds end of first week of March in a electric propogator. Plant out in unheated greenhouse border early/mid may. About 15"/18" between the plants. I do not grow chilli's but find it is best to sow sweet peppers earlier, say mid Feb. I do this as sowing later means they can be picked along with tomatoes otherwise the tomatoes are almost over before the peppers are ready.
Once established I feed the plants with comfrey water. Be sure not to overwater as this leads to the fruit splitting. Underwatering will result in blossom end rot. Aim to keep the compost moist. It also helps to shade the greenhouse in July and August. I use coolglass but there are other products available. If at all possible I would advocate using the greenhouse borders as grow bags dry out so quickly.

as above, toms do well with a good 18"-2ft sq of space especially if you want to grow determinate types. chillies need less space but pepper plants like to get quite big.

I tend to cultivate green house crops in pots, i like to know what soil conditions i have because this make the feeding easier but you will have to keep your eye on the ball when it comes to watering.

I like to sow toms at the end of feb/ start of march if they are going strait in there but you can get a head start with indoor lights etc (i sowed some toms on the mid winter solstice)

p.s. i love ireland and northern ireland, two of the most beautiful places i've been
