Default Strong winds, rain & snow - polycarbonate?

Hi,

I'm looking to get myself a 6x8 greenhouse before the growing season.

I'm in an area which suffers occassional stormy weather & deep snow.

My price range is hopefully under £400 all in, base/staging etc...

I'm a bit worried about the fairly priced polycarbonate ones, which are within my price range - would they just get blown apart?

I've been on the look-out for 2nd hand ones, but they're like hens teeth.

Any advice greatly appreciated, tempus fugit!!!

I've got a 6' x 8' polycarbonate greenhouse, and mine cost around £250 two years ago from B and Q for a complete kit.

I've had no problems with mine and it's stood strong in heavy winds and heavy snow for this area!

For the staging, I didnt bother with expensive stuff, I think it's about £15 for two four tier shelves. Admittedly they're not the best, but they do their job and can hold quite a fair weight on top of them!

The link below will take you to a thread where I've uploaded a picture of it! They're easy to clean and maintain and are robust when assembled, and there's no chance of the glass breaking either

Think I'll stay clear of the plastic greenhouses, I think they'll be too flimsy & glass ones aren't that much more really - think I'll go with this.

Smile Polycarbonate greenhouse

I have had a polycarbonate greenhouse for five years now and love it. I will be starting my tomatoes and peppers on the first of March, but it will be quite a while before I can use the greenhouse, as the snow is more than half way up the sides. The last thing I worry about during a storm is the greenhouse. If it survived this winter, it will survive anything.
