Default When to put out...

I havent grown anything for a few years but can remember the do's and dont's for tomato growing.

I currently have some chillies and peppers though growing in a large propogator on kitchen window sill.

I eventually want to put them out in a plastic walk in greenhouse Wilko Walk In Greenhouse with Staging & PE Cover | Mini Greenhouses | | Mini Greenhouse & Propagation from Wilkinson Plus

Should I keep the plants in doors until March so hopefully the last of the heavy frosts will have gone? In reference to the above house, a smaller one I had previously I weighted down with some paving slabs but my new garden is a lot more open so worried about it taking off... Has anyone got any other tips? I havent set it up yet but am also hoping to try and stake the actual bars down into the heavy clay soil.

In respect of the chilli and pepper plants, how tall do they grow? Guess they require staking as well. Do the side shoots need to be pinched out?

Thanks

Hi WelshBoa. I think you'd be wise to leave the plants indoors until the worst of your frost days have past before moving them into the greenhouse ( nice one by the way ) The chilis and peppers will vary in hight depending on the variety. My paprika peppers were about 2'x2', the pablano chilis were 3 1/2'x3, and the bell and giant marconi were 4 1/2'x 3 1/2'. I cage them all, using the cheap wire tomatoe cages. They're too flimsy for tomatoes anyway but I've found they work great for peppers. Sorry but I can't offer much advice on anchoring your greenhouse down, seems like maybe some sort of stake with a hook on the end might work, like the old style tent stakes. Good luck with your growing.
