Question New to green house

Hi,

Recently I purchased a green house, it's one of those that you stand outside. It has a zipped up door.

I started to think - should I open the door during the day? When best to water them?

Then it hit me, I'm clueless.

I'm growing (until I sort out my raised beds)

Carrots
Spring onions
Red onions
Cherry Tomatoes

So basically

Should I leave open the door?
When best to water them (evening or morning or both)?

Thanks
Jim

I would make sure it is well secured down first , if the day is really warm ( summer ) then i would leaver the doorway open or partially open ( i thinking it is the roll up type ) as for watering i read somewhere that it is best to water in the morning if needed as so to deter leaf rot but don't take my word for it as i am not really sure but maybe worth checking out

Hi,

I would agree, securing it down is very important otherwise I think I probably would find it in a field or two over.

Thanks for the other advise, right now I'm watering at evening as I basically doing have time in the mornings unless it's the weekend. I better check into this though, no use doing it if it's wrong!

Ventilation is important so leaving the doors open will help with that. Sometimes, these have vents and you want to make sure there is movement on hot days. Watering in the morning is important as you growing will work better combined with the sunlight. Watering in the evenings is based on how dry they get during the day, but I would recommend it if it has been extremely hot.

You dont want to have your plants welt, so make sure there is some sort of ventilation. Dont water when its too hot and as above, make sure its fastened down as if the wind catches it, it could fly away or even rip.

Yep discovered that and lost my first lot of seedlings over it

I'm getting a bit of a discolouring on top of the soil for some of the plants, too much water?
