Last season I grew Telegraph Improved cucumbers in the greenhouse and this year I am growing a different greenhouse variety. The variety is called Little Leaf, and the leaves are indeed small. I found this description online:
Compact plant produces high yields of small emerald green color cucumbers. An excellent cucumber for salads and pickling. This parthenocarpic plant produces cucumbers without pollinators. Does well under adverse weather conditions. Developed by the University of Arkansas. Disease Resistant: Angular Leaf Spot, Anthracnose, Bacterial Wilt, Cucumber Mosaic Virus, Downy Mildew, Powdery Mildew. ![]()

![]() The medium I use for the autopots is coco coir and agricultural perlite. I reuse it to some extent, as I save it and use it to start annuals for the yard. And, I even dump it into the soil garden to mix with the darn clay soil I have. The clay pellets I use for indoor growing in my flood and drain systems. I have been growing indoors 365 days a year for more than five years and have never had a flood. I can't even imagine how it could. Both the reservoir and the grow tub are never more then three quarters full so it is not possible to flood. Either of them can hold more liquid than the entire system contains. ![]()

Looking great Jack. I tried outdoor Cucumbers last year but the results werent great. I have just sown a variety called Tyria F1 which I will grow in the greenhouse in grow bags and thought I might try ring culture. I have sown 1inch deep in a pot on the window sill. What percentage of germination do you usually achieve with Cucumber seed?

This photo was taken 5/25/11 and this variety seems to be really easy to train to grow vertically. Although these are parthenocarpic and produce cucumbers without pollinators I am seeing some male flowers which I will remove.

I have only grown them twice so I do not have much experience. This variety is supposed to produce for a long time, so I guess I will find out this year. I only have two plants as there are only two of us and you can't really eat lots of cucumbers every day .

It is still hard to determine how many we will get but for plants that are supposed to be compact they have grown to the peak and are almost down the other side of the greenhouse. I have an arch of cucumbers across the top and bump my head on them when going through. We picked enough for a crock of dill pickles and it appears we will be doing another crock soon. They are really prolific plants.

These are really the best cucumbers I have grown in the greenhouse. I have not counted the number of fruit exactly, but I have made four batches of pickles and will do another batch soon. There are a lot of fruit still coming and no sign of slowing down. The fruit makes great pickles and is excellent sliced in salad.
