Default Growing herbs from seed: Help!

So, I've moved from London, where I had a wonderful herb container garden filled with shop bought plants, to Kent, where I'm determined to emulate Geoff Hamilton's ornamental kitchen garden.
But first I want to get my herb garden established.
Well, I thought, if I'm going to be a 'proper' gardener, and since I want to attempt to grow every conceivable herb, I shall grow them from seed.
And my goodness have they grown!
From angelica to violet and dozens in between, some seeds sourced from specialist nurseries, every single type has developed its own 'second' leaf set.
Here's the problem:
In some seed trays (modular) I sowed three to four seeds each...potting these on will be a sinch. With others, unsure of whether my sparse seeding would work, I cascaded seeds into the module. The result is that these seedlings are a veritable mass across the 2 inch surface. How on earth am I going to seperate these out for potting on???
Anyone???

Both very useful replies. Thanks you for that, and the welcome. I'm going to attempt to do both today ~ patiently pick out single seedlings, and plant in small clumps.
I'm so glad to have a found an internet forum where I'm not ridiculed for being a novice. I've read loads on gardening and bought more dvds than you can shake a stick at, but sometimes what you need is a voice of experience.
I'll let you know how I get on.

Well, I've pricked out for the very first time ~ a terrifying experience and not without casualties. The single seedlings will shine, I'm sure, but the clumps...hhhmmm...we'll see.
Now then, I have another question....a seperate post methinks.
