I have a back garden. It used to have grass in it. Then my neighbours put up a 7 foot fence. Now it has no light. Then our chickens got to work on it. Then our dogs had a go. Now we have some mud.
Ideally I would like something green to grow there. In a perfect world, that green covering could be mowed. Is there anything that can survive low light and heavy footfall? I am open to anything, such as herbs or couchgrass - I just want it to grow. Any ideas? Thanks for reading my question! I don't seem to have any trouble growing moss on my relatively shady lawn. Most people see this as a bad thing, but at least it's green. Any attempt to get rid of it results in huge dead areas that take months to recover, so I leave it alone now. You can walk on moss without it suffering (it would probably survive a global nuclear war). You can't eat it though
![]() You can buy lawn seed specially selected for shady areas so it might be worth sowing some of this. Paul |
