Welsh Onions - Like chives or spring onions?

I have some Welsh onions in my herb bed. I originally thought they were a type of chive but having read up on them there is a lot of info stating that they are like spring onions. Which is true or are they both right?

They multiply just like chives, but are larger and taste more like onions.
