Default Can you grow anything on a slope?

(Sorry...)

Hubby has been talking about extending our veggie patch next year. The trouble is, there is only one direction it can go in. Our garden is currently an area of lawn, with a grassy slope/bank up to another area of lawn and he would like it to go all the way up to the back of the garden.

Can the slope be made use of in some way?

Hi, and welcome.

Is the slope very steep? Could it be stepped? Which way is it facing? If its southerly you are a very lucky grower!

Hi Sandra

Yes, its a south facing garden

The slope is quite steep, so perhaps I would be better off stepping up the campaign to get hubby to move the shed so we can extend the plot in the opposite direction

I would think that a big problem with growing veggies on a slope wll be watering as the water will drain down the slope leaving the top of the slope short of water.

That's true - in that case phase 2 of "move the shed!" has begun
