Had to dig some of the garden up to fill it well didn't need to but it needed levelling for when i get my little plastic green house anyway to though i may as well

Then went and bought a little apple tree (golden delicious, about 4 n a half foot) was only a fiver in pound stretcher son cant go wrong, that's now planted

Just a bit of advice about your apple, Pacey. Golden Delicious are very difficult to grow successfully in this country, they need a longer, warmer growing season than we have here. Also, you are going to need a pollinator, a variety such as Ellison`s Orange, Gala or Jonagold.

Hi Pacey, honestly David is right. Golden Delicious are self sterile, not self fertile and do need a pollinating partner but one of your neighbours might be growing an apple tree that is a suitable pollinating partner. Best really to grow your own. Some of the supermarkets sell cheap fruit trees for a few pounds - I think Aldi is one. Check their website as they have weekly special offers.

Seriously though. Very few garden centres stock Golden Delicious because they are so difficult to grow in Britain. So, best of luck.
