Alright Pacey! New here myself, and not the most experienced of gardening sorts, but one thought that might be handy for you compost bin (before you fill it up) is to make one of the bottom wooden planks removeable so you can get at the good compost at the bottom when it's ready.

But there is defiantly new growth black and red currant bushes both looking good sofar, apple tree seems to be settling in ok as well.Planted two clematis montana rubens yesterday to cover the long wire metal fence, they will take off soon fingers crossed lol There a couple onions that have sprouted but nothing from the carrots yet. Grape vine looks like there's something trying to push out from under the wax so just going to have to wait and see with that. Only thing im particularly worried about is the blueberry bush it still looks exactly the same as when I planted (bare root) no growth at all. Might pop up today give everything a good water and take a few pics if I get a chance ![]() |

Hi Pacey, blueberries like acidic soil so alot of people grow them in containers using ericaceous compost and water them with rain water, not tap water. The other thing is that you will get a better crop if you have more than one blueberry bush - it must be a different variety - because of cross pollination. ![]()

You think i should dig it up and pot it, or just leave that one and maybe get a couple more different ones and try them in pots? |

Apple tree settling into its new home nicely ![]() ![]() Grape vine with what i hope is some growth trying to push its way through the wax ![]() Black and Redcurrants coming along nicely ![]() ![]() ![]() Clematis only been in about 20 hours hopefully that and the other one (the same) will get all that ugly fence covered ![]() blueberry bush thats not doing alot of anything :S lol ![]() Biggest onion growth sofar, only about 4 that are growing atm. I broke one of the branches off my redcurrant bush when planting it, thought why not stick it in a pot see if it grows and well its seems to be growing ok ![]() ![]() Last thing can somone tell me what this ugly tree thing is please and is it going to get any nicer or should i just cut it down? ![]() ![]() |

If it was me, I would dig it up and pot it in ericaceous compost - but shop around because the price varies vastly. B & Q have the compost at £2.98 a bag which doesn't seem a bad price but I have never tried it. B&Q Ericaceous Compost 20L, 0000003717578 Be sure to start collecting rain water! ![]()
