Default Extending the growing plot

I have been busy extending the main veg area, have took down a garage and the driveway the previous owner put down 3x2 slabs with a 9" crushed brick base.
What i want advice on how carefull have i got to be to remove the crushed brick it will be 6" down to 12" below ground level well dug but having trouble removing all trace of it.
Will it cause harm,
any plants in particular to avoid in that section

As long as you take out as much as you realistically can, then I don`t see what`s left being too much of a problem. Just like having stony ground, no good for rootcrops but should be ok for most other things.

thats what i thought where i have extended the side, so it affects all rows i have dug it all out as best i can but on the end perhaps not quite so good but still best i could as i was on my knees by then and totally knackered !!
the other bed where salad stuff and strwbs are to be sited it will have a good foot of good soil and the hard core removed and the crushed brick i have dug holes in to allow drainage.

Why not use the strawberry/salad bed for rootcrops, and the other one for the strawberries and salads?
