Default Growing Beetroot in Raised Bed

Hiya

I recently bought a linkabords raised bed, 1mx1m (2 off) to compliment my greenhouse and help me get more into veg gardening.

Anyway, I sowed some boltardy beetroot a couple of weeks again in the GH and when they get bigger I am thinking of putting them in the raised bed. Now because I have 2 raised beds I am going to stack them on top of each other to give me a depth of 30 cm.............my question is would this be deep enough for the beetroot as I read that you need about between 30-40cm depth?................I also have a packet of cauliflour seeds that I was thinking of putting in there as well...............

Could someone please advise whether this would work?

BTW, in relation to my other thread about my carrots, they are now starting to come through so keep your fingers crossed for me (failed miserably last year with my carrots!).

Hi i have tried beetroot in containers and have found that they need a deep pot 400mm or so as they can get very loose in a shallow depth.

Yes that is deep enough. I've done similar and has worked out with great results.

Excellent, thanks for the feedback.

My hubby built the raised bed yesterday so I will hopefully fill it this weekend. I've bought some topsoil and was going to mix this with multi-compost. The raised bed is going to lie upon my chipped stone area which is infront of my GH therefore I will need to get something to go on the bottom between the stones and the soil (I dont want to rake the stones back as the area was originally filled quite deep when we got the garden landscaped!)

Wish me luck x
