Default Runner and Broard Bean issue.

Hello everyone. One row 10 feet long of Lady Di runner beans. Then in front broard beans which grow to about 3 ft high. Can you think of any problems with this layout. Full sunny position, well dug and plenty of compost.Marmite

Hello Marmite,

I personally don't see any reason why you cant grow broad beans in front of runner beans, Iv grown Lady di before they are a great bean long and a good cropper.

One thing i dont know about is if the broad beans gets black fly if that would effect things?

Regards

Chilli p

I grow the beans and peas in rotation together. Runners, peas, french beans and broad beans. I put the broad at the front, then the peas, and when the soil is warmer I put the french and runner in. Nip out the growing tips of the broad beans at around 2 to 21/2 ft to deter blackfly.

I'm hating this weather, its really starting to get me down. I just want to get out into the garden and stay there
