Hi all, I apologise in advance if this question or info is available elsewhere on this site.
I`ve been growing veg for the last few years in raised beds in my garden and have just planted a load of seeds in small pots ready for planting out later in the year. My question is that although the compost I put the seeds in was damp I`ve notced the compost has at least dried on the surface. Should I lightly water these pots with dry surfaces or will they be ok to be left alone until the plants break through the surface of the compost? Thanks in advance! |

Hi RedAl, welcome to our forum!! You need to keep the compost damp but not soaking wet. As you said, very lightly water the pots.

Thanks Lesley, much appreciated. I`ve got some work to do then as I`ve got about 20 small pots each with a small sandwich bag over the pot to keep the heat in. Still, it`ll all be worth it once they poke through eh? I never fail to feel really excited when I start seeing shoots coming through the compost!
