Default Seeds and Compost

Hi all, I apologise in advance if this question or info is available elsewhere on this site.

I`ve been growing veg for the last few years in raised beds in my garden and have just planted a load of seeds in small pots ready for planting out later in the year. My question is that although the compost I put the seeds in was damp I`ve notced the compost has at least dried on the surface. Should I lightly water these pots with dry surfaces or will they be ok to be left alone until the plants break through the surface of the compost?

Thanks in advance!

Hi RedAl, welcome to our forum!! You need to keep the compost damp but not soaking wet. As you said, very lightly water the pots.

Thanks Lesley, much appreciated. I`ve got some work to do then as I`ve got about 20 small pots each with a small sandwich bag over the pot to keep the heat in. Still, it`ll all be worth it once they poke through eh? I never fail to feel really excited when I start seeing shoots coming through the compost!
